A restless evening saw

The sunset of your smile

How Could I Ever Forget

In the shadow of the oak tree

Perhaps you’ll find me

Wherever You Are

But I got this feeling of spring

And the world was blooming again

Of All My Choices

Perhaps you see right through me

The plain reality

Melancholy Mirror

Release of Melancholy Mirror

The release of my song ‘Melancholy Mirror’ is a true milestone – not only for the New Standard, but also for me personally. So far this is the closest I have come to my vision of writing a classic, with a memorable melody and also strong lyrics. I am particularly proud of the lyrics of this song. Of course all my songs have a very personal angle, but I hope to reach some kind of universal appeal. A modest hope that the listeners can recognize some of the same dilemmas in this song, that they might even recognize themselves.

Also production-wise I really feel we took it a step up. It was my first time working with Sinne Eeg, who delivers a stunning performance. She does make everything better, and interprets the song and the message strongly. Also it was my first time working with Lars Jansson, who has always been a true hero of mine. Now I am happy to call him my friend, and he also just displays beautiful pianism and represents the grace and lightness I am striving for.

But The New Standard is very much a team effort. The great bass of Mads Vinding, another true legend, and the most swinging drummer i Copenhagen Søren Frost, and finally Thomas Agergaard who delivers majestic saxophone playing. Then an unforgetable string arrangement by Peter Jensen played by Live Strings. And finally the engineering team of Boe Larsen from Millfactory Copenhagen, and then last but not least, the international mastering capacity: Miles Showell from Abbey Road London.

I am so proud of this song. I thank all the participants sincerely from the bottom of my heart. This is made with unconditional love – I hope you can hear it …
